A version number tells you whether an update could be behind a new problem. If nothing on your device changed recently, start with earbud and headphone fixes by symptom or fix your smartwatch instead.
Current Versions by Device
AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4 and AirPods Max 2 run firmware 9A348. Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 run watchOS 27.0.1, and other watches that support watchOS 27 run watchOS 27. Each row names the maker's page, read September 26, 2026.

Apple gives no AirPods firmware dates, Google gives none for Fitbit, and Garmin lists the month only. Google, Samsung and Oura roll updates out in phases, so your device can lag this table.

Known Issues and Fixes
watchOS 27 has one fixed restart bug, one behavior change with no workaround and a temporary battery effect. We list only issues a maker documents or reputable outlets report.

How to Update Each Device
AirPods, Beats on Apple devices, Garmin and Oura fetch updates automatically. The rest install through a phone app, the phone's settings or the watch itself.

How We Keep This Page Current
We read the makers' release notes and support pages, not forums. Apple's firmware, security and watchOS pages are read every weekday, other brands' pages each Monday, and every row in full monthly. A new version, a new Apple security entry, a documented issue or the same issue reported by two reputable outlets triggers an edit. "Last checked" moves on every check, even when nothing changed. We don't install or test firmware ourselves.
Fixes for Problems That Aren't Updates
