How we verify fixes

Every fix on Gadget247News is checked against the maker's own documentation before it goes live. This page explains what "verified" means here, which sources we use, and what to do when a step doesn't match your device.

What "Verified" Means on Gadget247News

A step is verified when it matches the official support page from the company that made your device. We check the step itself, the menu names, the timings, the light colors and the models it applies to.

We don't test fixes on physical devices, so "verified" never means "we tried it." It means the step agrees with the maker's own instructions on the date shown on the page.

Each fact we use sits in one facts database with its official source URL and the date we checked it. A fact without an official source stays marked as unconfirmed, and it never appears on a page as fact.

The Official Sources We Use

Device or topic Official source
AirPods, Apple Watch Apple Support (support.apple.com)
Beats headphones and earbuds Beats help pages (beatsbydre.com)
Samsung Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Buds Samsung Support (samsung.com)
Google Pixel Watch, Pixel Buds, Fitbit Google Help (support.google.com)
Garmin watches Garmin Support (garmin.com)
Oura Ring Oura Support (ouraring.com)
Sony, Bose, JBL, Skullcandy Each brand's own help pages (sony.com, bose.com, jbl.com, skullcandy.com)
Bluetooth standards Bluetooth SIG (bluetooth.com)
Recalls and safety notices CPSC (cpsc.gov) and SaferProducts.gov

We use four news outlets only for release dates and reported issues: MacRumors, 9to5Mac, 9to5Google and AppleInsider. The page always names the outlet ("Reported by ..."). A problem that only appears in forum posts is never published as a known issue.

What the Verified Line Shows

Fix, how-to, Update Tracker and news pages carry a Verified line near the top. It has four parts:

  1. The official page or pages we used, linked so you can read them yourself.
  2. The models the steps cover.
  3. The software version, when the source gives one.
  4. The date we checked.

Here is the line from our guide How to Reset AirPods:

Verified against How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro and How to restart or reset AirPods Max · AirPods 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5; AirPods Pro 1, 2 and 3; AirPods Max · checked September 26, 2026.

The line has no software version because the Apple pages it uses don't give one. Hub pages carry a shorter line that says the routing was checked against the maker's pages. Update Tracker and news pages also show a separate "Last checked" date.

When a Fact Can't Be Confirmed

  • If the maker's page doesn't say it, we don't state it as fact. We drop the claim, or we rewrite the step so it doesn't depend on it.
  • If two official pages disagree, we don't pick one and guess. The claim stays off the page until an official source settles it.
  • On the day a guide goes live, we re-read the official pages it depends on, and the page shows that date.

Our site build also refuses to publish any page that still carries an unconfirmed marker.

When We Re-check a Guide

We re-check a guide:

  • when a new firmware or software version comes out for the devices it covers
  • when a reader tells us a fix didn't work
  • at least every 3 to 6 months

The "Published" and "Updated" dates change only when the content changes. On Update Tracker and news pages, a re-check that changes nothing moves only the "Last checked" date.

What "No Hands-On Testing" Means for You

We don't have your device in hand, and we never claim we tried a fix ourselves. Our steps follow the maker's instructions for the models and software listed on the Verified line.

If a step doesn't match your screen, compare your model and software version with the ones on the Verified line. If they differ, the steps may differ too. The official page linked in that line is the final word. Then tell us about the mismatch, so we can check it.

How AI Fits In

AI tools help us research, outline, draft and edit for plain language, and AI assistants re-read the official pages to flag facts that don't match. AI doesn't decide what counts as verified: a fact is verified only when it matches an official source page. Suraj Giri reads every page and signs it off before it's published. Read our AI use policy for the full workflow.

Report a Fix That Didn't Work

Email info@gadget247news.com and include:

  • the page title or link
  • your device model
  • the software version on your device, and on your phone if the device pairs with one
  • the step that didn't work, and what you saw instead

We'll check your report against the official source. If the page is wrong, we fix it, note the change with the date, and add it to our corrections log. Our editorial policy explains how we write and update guides.
