AirPods and Apple Watch Recalls and Safety Notices

Affected Devices

Where Official Recalls Are Published
Two official sources cover AirPods and Apple Watch notices for US owners:
- US Consumer Product Safety Commission: the Recalls & Product Safety Warnings list at cpsc.gov, searchable by date, hazard and product category.
- Apple Service Programs: a page Apple says "lists all programs currently offered by Apple, including Replacement programs, Exchange programs, Repair Extension programs and Recalls."
A service program isn't always a recall. Apple's list mixes recall programs, such as the 15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program, with service and exchange programs for specific faults.
What to Do Now
With no notice in place, your steps are short:
- Keep using your device. There's nothing to return or register as of September 26, 2026.
- Stop using a damaged device. Apple says "Don't use damaged AirPods or charging case," and not to use an Apple Watch with "a cracked screen or case, visible liquid intrusion, or a damaged band." For a damaged Apple Watch, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider; AirPods batteries should only be repaired by a trained technician.

Background
The one past AirPods program we found on Apple's site was a service program, not a recall.
Past Program: AirPods Pro Sound Issues
Apple's "AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues" covered a small percentage of AirPods Pro manufactured before October 2020 with crackling or static sounds, or Active Noise Cancellation problems. Affected earbuds were replaced free of charge for 3 years after the unit's first retail sale; no other AirPods models were included. Apple's program page now says the program has ended. How We'll Update This Page
We track both official sources on a fixed routine:
- We check the CPSC list and Apple's Service Programs page at least weekly, and the same day Apple or the CPSC announces anything.
- Each check updates the What Changed box, the key-facts table and the Last checked line.
- Each notice gets a dated log entry: official title, date, models, remedy and source.
- We remove nothing: a resolved notice moves to the log with its end date.
