Android pairs Bose headphones and earbuds from its Bluetooth settings, and on QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) models and Ultra Open Earbuds a Fast Pair notification can do it in one tap. The Bose-specific part is pairing mode, which differs by model; the models are the ones listed on Bose headphones pairing, battery and sound fixes. For other brands, see how to pair Bluetooth earbuds with a new phone.

How to Pair Bose Headphones With an Android Phone

To pair Bose headphones with an Android phone, put them in pairing mode and add them under Pair new device:

  1. Put your Bose in pairing mode (table below).
  2. On your phone, swipe down from the top of the screen, then touch and hold Bluetooth.
  3. Tap Pair new device. If it isn't there, look under "Available devices."
  4. Tap your Bose's name: the name you set in the Bose app, or the default, such as Bose QC Headphones or BOSE QC ULTRA 2 EARBUDS.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Menus vary by phone maker, and Google notes that some of its steps work only on Android 15 and up. Bose's own article says to tap "Connections" or "Connected Devices," then Bluetooth, and pick your Bose under "Available Devices."

Pairing Mode for Each Bose Model

The Android steps don't change between models, but the pairing control does. The last column shows whether the model's owner's guide lists Fast Pair:

Bose model Pairing mode Fast Pair in the guide
QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) Both earbuds in the open case; hold the case button until the light slowly pulses blue Yes
Ultra Open Earbuds Both earbuds in the open case; hold the case button until the lights slowly pulse blue Yes
QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) Hold the Bluetooth/Power button past the power-off tone until the light pulses blue Yes
QuietComfort Earbuds (2024) Touch and hold either earbud for 4 seconds until "Ready to pair" Not listed
QuietComfort Headphones Slide the switch right for 3 seconds until "Ready to connect" Not listed

Pair in One Tap With Google Fast Pair

Fast Pair works on the three models marked "Yes" above, according to their owner's guides:

  1. Put your Bose in pairing mode.
  2. Place the case, or the headphones, next to your Android phone. A notification asks you to pair.
  3. Tap the notification. On QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen), a second notification confirms the connection.

The notification also has a button to download the Bose app. If no notification appears, Bose says to "check that notifications are enabled for the Google Play Services app on your device." For how Fast Pair works across brands, see Fast Pair earbuds on Android.

On a Samsung Galaxy Phone

On a Galaxy phone, swipe down to open the Quick settings panel and touch and hold the Bluetooth icon. Samsung then says to make sure Bluetooth is on, scroll down to Available devices and select your Bose. After that, pairing works as in the steps above.

How to Check Your Bose Are Connected on Android

Your Bose are connected when both the Bose and your phone confirm it:

  1. Check the Bose: the light turns solid blue on QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) models and Ultra Open Earbuds; QuietComfort Headphones say "Connected to" and your phone's name.
  2. Check Bluetooth settings: Google says a connected device shows as "Connected."
  3. Play something to confirm the sound comes through your Bose.

If Your Bose Won't Connect to Android

Put your Bose back in pairing mode first. If that fails, open Bluetooth settings, tap the settings icon next to your Bose and tap Forget; remove any duplicate listing labeled "LE (Low Energy)" too, then pair again. Bose's full fix order is in Bose headphones won't connect.

What's Different on Android

Three things set Android apart for Bose owners:

  • The app: the Bose app for Android (version 13.2.7, August 25, 2026) needs Android 13 or later. QuietComfort Earbuds (2024) use the Bose QCE app instead.
  • Snapdragon Sound: QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and Headphones (2nd Gen) and Ultra Open Earbuds stream with the aptX Adaptive codec on a Snapdragon Sound-certified device, "such as a compatible Android device."
  • New features first: QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) firmware 10.12.12 (September 8, 2026) adds Bluetooth LE Audio support (beta) and 5.1 Spatial Audio with head tracking on compatible Android devices.

Bose and Android: Quick Answers

Do Bose headphones work with Android?

Yes: every Bose model on this page pairs from Android's Bluetooth settings. QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) models and Ultra Open Earbuds also support Fast Pair on Android 6.0 or higher.

Why don't I see the Fast Pair pop-up for my Bose?

The pop-up needs Bluetooth and Location on, notifications on for Google Play Services, and a Bose in pairing mode. QuietComfort Headphones and QuietComfort Earbuds (2024) don't list Fast Pair, so pair them from Bluetooth settings.

Do I need the Bose app on Android?

Not to pair. Bose recommends the app for setup, and it's where you manage settings and get future updates. QuietComfort Earbuds (2024) use the Bose QCE app.
